Foremost Spring Workshop

Being a member of the Foremost Golf Group, each Spring we are invited to attend a workshop to go through various new ideas and meet representatives from certain golf companies Foremost are associated with.

So on Tuesday at Exeter Golf & Country Club I met up with 20 of my fellow professionals from the South West, Peter Durham who is Head of Membership Services and David Murch who is the South West & Wales Regional Business Development Manager, my thanks go to them both for what was a fantastic day, and being able to have helpful ideas to take the business forward for 2017.

Wednesday took me out onto the golf course at St. Enodoc for our first CCPGA meeting of 2017, of those of you who read my newsletter last week I class St. Enodoc as the toughest course we have in Cornwall and with the weather that we had it certainly lived up to its billing with the winning pro's score being 32 points, sadly for me three holes cost me a place in the prizes, but as we all know, that's golf.

Congratulations go to Dave Holland who was tied 1st in the Pro Am team event, well done Dave. If you would be interested in joining the CCPGA, then pop on in for a chat and I can let you know of the courses that we play during the season. Next week we move onto Trevose and we are looking forward to seeing all the new changes to the course that have been made over the past few months.

New equipment arriving

With the new golfing season getting ever closer, new equipment is arriving on a day to day basis.

Over the past few days we have had new golf ball drops from Titleist and Callaway, with Titleist bringing out the new Pro V1 & Pro V1x for 2017 / 18 and with Callaway they have also extended the range with the new Chrome Soft X arriving soon.

We have had in our early delivery of Super Soft & Chrome Soft golf ball, and this year we have included the TruVis range to our stock, which helps with visual impact and is great on the greens. If you would like to try out these golf balls on our practice putting green then pop on in and ask for a try out.

Also back in stock from Titleist this year are the AP1 Cast Irons and AP2 Forged Irons, and if you would like to demo these models we have one set of each for you to take out on the course. It's a great way to see how you get on with a full set rather than just one demo iron, like a 6 or 7 iron.

Again just let us know if you would like to take them out so we can make sure that we have that set available for you.

A tough week

It's been a tough week with all this rain that we've had, this has meant that the ground-staff have had to close the course over a few days with the ground just completely saturated, although they have done their best to maybe get the back loop open.

We are hoping to be open for our Winter League this weekend, but it looks like Storm Doris is due to hit us on Friday, who thinks up of these names.

But fingers crossed we can get the event played and when you come in off the course you can sit down with a curry and a few pints to enjoy the first weekend of the Six Nations on the big screen.

The Online Booking System

You will be glad to know that pretty much all that are in the book have now been loaded onto the system for the year, just the odd few events that we still need clarification on tee times have to be confirmed.

We are sticking with an 8.30am start for weekdays through till the end of February, but we are back to 8.00am for weekend play.

You can book your tee times as ever 1 week in advance through us in the Pro Shop or via our Falmouth Golf Club Website.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read through my newsletter and hope you all enjoy it, but remember if Storm Doris does arrive tomorrow then please be safe out there, if it's on the course if we are open or you are just out and about.
