Biscuit
Most of you will remember our little Whippet ' Biscuit ' who came to work with me over the years. Sadly last Friday Debbie and I had to make the awful decision to have him put to sleep. He had made the grand old age of 14, but his overall health had taken a turn for the worse over the past few weeks.
We would like to thank the membership and visitors alike who were so friendly towards him over the years, even though he was a sneaky little so and so sometimes.
We all remember his fondness for a bacon bap, and one or two often disappeared from a golf buggy while someone was teeing off. I'd often get an unsuspecting gent appearing in the shop saying he couldn't find his breakfast. Of course, we knew where it had gone and I spent a fortune on replacements, whilst Biscuit was licking his chops behind the counter!
Debbie and I would like to thank those of you who have been into the shop over the past few days to say how sorry you are, and that he would be sorely missed. He was a wonderful little dog who has left a huge hole in our hearts and our home.
FREE Golf Pride Grip
This week has been exciting with the arrival of new stock, so Rob and I have taken the opportunity to change the shop around a little. One of the new additions is an upgrade to the Grip Bar. So following our revamp is this special offer on Golf Pride grips.
Your only point of contact with the club is via the grip, so it's vitally important that yours aren't neglected.
We're offering to put a new Golf Pride grip on your 7 iron for FREE. It is only through experiencing the benefits a new grip offers that you'll realise the detrimental effects worn grips have on your golf.
Also on Tuesday we had a visit from David Murch, our Business Relations Manager from the Foremost Golf Group. Following a great chat we will be making some changes to the newsletter and website over the next few weeks and also using the NetTickit to improve our pricing displays.
Bake Sale
On Tuesday our Lady Captain, Jenny Dunstan held an 11 hole event followed by a bake sale in aid of her charity, Huntington's Disease.
As you see from the photo everyone enjoyed the event with plenty of cakes and cup cakes being sold in aid of the charity.
Rumour has it that our Club Director, Steve Burrows had quite a few!

European TourLast week the European Tour was in Malaysia, not too sure why it's called the European Tour anymore, but Fabrizio Zanotti is not going to worry about that. After picking up his 3rd win on the tour, but first since the 2014 BMW International Open. Zanotti carded a final round of 63 to come through the field and pip the American David Lipsky by 1.
PGA TourMeanwhile over on the US PGA Tour it was a return visit to Pebble Beach for the AT & T National Pro Am, one celebrity who always turns up for this event and makes it eventful is Bill Murray from Ghostbusters and Caddyshack, how some of the pro's manage to keep their game together when paired in the same four I have no idea.
I expect the winner Jordan Spieth was happy he wasn't, he put together 4 steady rounds and was leading after the 2nd, Jordan ended up winning the event by 4 shots from Kelly Kraft.
This week the tour moves to Riviera Country Club in California for the Genesis Open. Some 25 years ago the event was then the Nissan Open and a certain golfer called Tiger Woods received an invite to the event as a 16 year old, he went on to miss the cut shooting 72-75.
But some 25 years later Tiger has 79 worldwide wins & a few quid in the bank account even after a divorce.
