Masters
Well here we go with the start of the golfing season, it's the first Major of the year at Augusta with the Masters, who will don the Green Jacket on Sunday evening?
It's difficult to look past the world number 1 at this moment in time, Dustin Johnson, but the only thing against him is that generally Augusta suits a player who moves the ball from right to left, while Johnson moves the ball in the other direction. Saying that I'm sure his length will balance that out.
Thanks to all the members who have taken part in the sweepstake and the draw is listed on A4 sheets around the Clubhouse and on my Golf Shop Facebook page.
Last week
Sorry I couldn't get my newsletter out to you last week because I was away in France on a Brittany Ferries golf trip, which I shall go into more detail in a bit. But thanks go to Jonny at Foremost for putting last week's newsletter together for me.
If any of you fancy a golfing trip to Northern France at unbelievable value then please contact Graham Ruth or any of his golf team at Brittany Ferries. While Falmouth was once again sadly struggling with the weather, we were based at St Malo, some 150 miles South East of Plymouth. The weather was amazing with three days golf played in a short sleeved shirt over two courses at Dinard and Sables D'or Golf Les Pins.
Battery Trade In
Thanks to all the members who decided to Trade In and Trade Up to a brand new Motocaddy Cart Bag while this offer was on, this has now closed, but Motocaddy are now offering a Trade In value of £25.00 for your old battery against a Lithium model.
So if your trolley is starting to struggle to get around then why not take up this offer.
The Motocaddy Lithium battery also comes with a brand new charger and has a full 5 year guarantee now!
Mizuno Golf Clubs
Now that April is in full swing, we will be offering from Thursday onwards till the end of the month an amazing 10% off all Mizuno golf clubs that we currently have in stock.
This also includes the brand new JPX900 range of Drivers / Fairway Woods / Hybrids and Irons. Therefore with this offer we will beat any Internet Price going.
Sun Mountain Bags
Also over the next four days of the Masters, we will be offering 10% discount on all our shop prices on Sun Mountain H2N0 golf bags in stock, we have a selection of Cart & Carry Bags in at this moment in time and they are completely waterproof.
Competition round up
Sadly due to the weather last weekend, we had to cancel our first Major of the year, the John Rose Trophy, due to too many temporary greens in play. We will look at the fixture list and try to re- arrange this as soon as possible.
But we still had 61 members who went out and played a Bogey event, the only surprising issue was how few of the members knew what a bogey was. Well done to the winners though with the results listed below:
1st - Steve Jones with + 5 & wins a £35.00 Gift Voucher 2nd - Liam Hoban with + 4 & wins a £20.00 Gift Voucher 3rd - Nigel Molin also with + 4, but losing out on the back 9 & wins a £15.00 Gift Voucher
Upcoming Fixtures
This Saturday sees the playing of the Frank Harris Qualifier, and tee times can be booked through HowDidIDo or on the PSI System in the clubhouse, we have morning and afternoon tee times available from 8.00am to 10.00am and 12.00 noon to 2.00pm.
Next Wednesday we have our Seniors Charity Open kindly sponsored by Audi Truro and our Seniors Captain, Chris Jobling will be looking to raise as much as he can through the day for his chosen charity - The Samaritans, we have a fantastic field of around 150 playing and at this moment in time the long range weather forecast is looking ok at the mo with it overcast with maybe some light showers, but it is a week away and as we know that with living in Cornwall it's difficult to trust the weather from day to day.
Thursday 6th - West Cornwall Police G.S. @ 12.00 noon to 1.15 pm Friday 7th - Ladies Friendly v West Cornwall @ 10.00 am to 10.32 am Saturday 8th - Frank Harris Qualifier Sunday 9th - Mixed Greensomes @ 11.00 am to 12.15 pm Monday 10th - Ladies Friendly v Budock Vean @ 10.00 am to 10.32 am Tuesday 11th - Ladies Cavanagh Bowl - (S) @ 9.00 am to 12.00 noon Wednesday 12th - Audi Seniors Charity Open Day
