Sergio finally lands a Major
I'm sure most of you were glued to your TV's until the early hours of Monday morning seeing who would win the battle over the last 18 holes of the first Major of the year at Augusta. With the early play seeing both Justin and Sergio trading blows and moving away from the field, and then the other big names like Fowler and Spieth heading in the opposite direction with some poor play from both of them.
It seemed that the 13th hole was a turning point for Garcia, after having to take a penalty drop when he pulled his tee shot into the trees running alongside Rae's Creek, he managed to chip the ball out and then up and down it from about 100 yards, with Rose just through the green in two, some 3 putts later and Sergio had used his get out of jail free card. Again blows were traded over the next 4 holes, and they stood on the 18th tee level again after Rose missed from 5 feet for par on the 17th green.
Both had the chance to win the Green Jacket in normal time, but a play-off was needed and when Rose over-cut his tee shot, all of a sudden Sergio was in the prime position. The best Rose could manage was a 5 after a chip out from the trees which left Garcia with 2 putts from some 12 feet, but he didn't need two and 1 putt later, Sergio joins the Major group on what would have been Seve's 60th birthday. Perhaps it was written in the clear blue sky over Augusta.
