Hello everyone,
With another Bank Holiday quickly approaching, we hope that this amazing spell of weather continues in Cornwall, but we all wish it would just get a few more degrees warmer.
Here at the club, we have another busy week approaching and full details will be following on later in the newsletter.
New shop sign
With this currently spell of weather, some of the winter wear has had to make a re-appearance with customers purchasing layering garments as well as some Glenmuir Lambswool Sweaters and even the odd pair of winter mitts and woolly hats, I'd hoped that we were passed this stage of cold weather and getting all the new Summer Shirts out the door, never mind, I'm sure the warmer weather will return soon. This week the new shop sign has been fitted and thanks go to Cliff and Dawn at AutoGraffiti for their hard work.
Complete Equipment Solution
Also coming up in the shop we have the ' Complete Equipment Solution ' offer with Mizuno. This gives you the opportunity to have a FREE of charge Fitting Session and Lesson on selected equipment from Mizuno, this includes all of their current models
If you wish to book a session, then please pop into the Pro Shop and book in for FREE!

Callaway Chrome Soft X
Today we have had our first shipment in of the new Callaway Chrome Soft X.
These golf balls are now available at £8.50 for a pack of 3 or at £29.99 per dozen.
If you fancy trying out a golf ball which is very similar to the Titleist Pro V1x, but would like something a tad more competitive price wise, then this may be the ball for you.
Visiting Falmouth - The Cornwall Captain's GS
We had the honour last Sunday of holding the Cornwall Captain's Golf Society Spring Meeting, the competitors played an 18 hole Stableford in the morning, with some 40 players taking part and the overall winner was our very own Club Captain from 2011, Mike Hodges with 38 points.
Then in the afternoon, a larger field took part in an 18 hole Foursomes Stableford, which was won by Paul Collins and Terry Dickinson, another ex-Falmouth Captain's clean sweep! Following the end of play the Captain's had a sit down evening meal which was followed by the presentation and AGM.
West Region PGA Cornish FestivalAs many of you would have noticed both Rob and myself were away playing last week, I was in the West Region PGA Cornish Festival kindly sponsored by Asbri Golf at Trevose, Carlyon Bay and St. Enodoc.
I would like to thank all the PGA Staff for their hard work through the week and all three clubs for their hospitality, but also a special thank you to the starters of the event who pushed all the players for donations towards my chosen charities for the year.
Over the three days they raised just over
£1000.00 towards the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
On those three days I had the pleasure of playing with 3 members from Cotswold Hills Golf Club near Cheltenham, and although my golf wasn't quite where I would like it to be at this early stage in the season, we all had a great few days.
I was also asked to attend their Pro Am in early June, so I'm very much looking forward to going away and playing at another course within our region which I haven't played before.
Rob, though had a very successful week at Saunton on the East course where the West of England Strokeplay Championships took place, he managed four excellent rounds of 74, 71, 73 & 71 for 289 and a + 5 finish. This meant an overall position of 8th place, just some 8 shots behind the winner, Owen Edwards from the Kendleshire Golf Club, near Bristol.
Rob did though pick up EGU Order of Merit points as well as Amateur World Ranking Points.
His next event is this weekend where he will be representing Cornwall against Gwent in the first Channel League Match of the 2017 season. Good luck Rob.
