Hello Golfers,
Well, it's been a difficult week with lots of rain returning to Cornwall, the only good thing about it is, that it's good for the course but not too great for shop sales. We are only a couple of weeks away from June and waterproof golf bags, waterproof suits and rain gloves have been flying out the door, but sadly not too many summer shirts.
This weekend
This weekend at the club we see the marriage of Simon Foxhall to Michele Harper, with the reception and evening event taking place in the clubhouse.
I'm sure we would all like to wish them both all the best for the future and enjoy Saturday, as the day goes by so quickly.
Motocaddy offer
Sadly the Motocaddy Trade In, Trade Up offer on Lithium Batteries has now finished and I would like to thank those members who have supported the offer, and you now have brand new batteries with a full 5 year warranty.
But another Spring offer is on the table with Motocaddy at this time, purchase any S Series trolley and get an Accessory Station and Umbrella Holder at 1/2 price or purchase any M Series trolley and get an Umbrella Holder and Drinks Holder at 1/2 price. Both offers save you £15.00 on the R.R.P.
Also with Motocaddy now, we have a repair agent on site, with Angus MacArthur having been up to the Head Office to go through all the full training requirements to become a local service agent, and if your trolley needs repairing while under warranty and it was purchased from myself we now have a courtesy cart available for you to use while yours needs repairing.
Waterproof golf bags
With this wet weather returning we've had another little run on Waterproof golf bags, so if you are fed up with everything getting wet inside your golf bag, then why not think about investing in one. We have bags available from Titleist, Motocaddy and Sun Mountain that are all 100% waterproof.
So there is nothing worse than having to put on damp waterproof slacks while out playing, therefore, with these style of bags which have fully waterproof seemed pockets, no more ' soggy bottoms ' as Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry would say.
Devon PGA Ladies Pro Am
This Thursday I will venture up to Exeter Golf & Country Club for the Devon PGA Ladies Pro Am. The team will be Kathy Wells, Donna Craig and Jenny Storey. We are all looking forward to a fun day with hopefully some decent golf played, it's just fingers crossed for slightly better weather.
Check list for the event:
- Clubs, Electric Trolley, Suit and ah yes PASSPORT, we are crossing the Tamar into Devon.
Meanwhile, Rob is playing at Perranporth in the Cornwall Golf Union County Week, Wednesday is the 36 hole qualifier, after which the top 32 then go through to the knockout stages.
With Rob being one of the lowest handicappers in the County, he surely goes into the event as one of the favourites along with Joe Cruse from St Enodoc, Tom Fox from China Fleet and Richard Jasper from Launceston.
Golf Club Results
On Saturday 13th the club held three competitions in one event, with the Churchill Memorial Medal, the Scratch Matchplay Qualifier and the Lombard Qualifier. The top 16 players go through to the scratch knockout stages and the draw will be posted in the near future on the notice board.
The overall winner of the Churchill Medal and Lombard qualifier was Simon Kearsley with a nett 67. Simon will now hopefully join me at Parkstone Golf Club in Dorset for the Regional Final of the Lombard on the 6th July. The runner up in the event was Neil Bunting with a nett 70, who will be the first reserve if Simon cannot make the final.
Sunday saw the playing of the Junior Open with over 50 juniors taking part, the highly experienced juniors playing an 18 hole medal and the academy juniors playing an 11 hole Stableford. The winner of the best gross was Bradley Barnes from West Cornwall with a level par 72, the winner of the academy section was our very own Ross McKnight with an amazing 32 points on 11 holes - wow what a score !
Well done to all involved on the day, but a particular mention to both of our Junior Organisers, Mick Fox and Bob Pine for all their hard work.
