US Open Week at Erin Hills :
The second major of the year is upon us and it seems that a lot of the pro's are not too happy with the rough, in some places 2 yards off the fairway and you are in the thick stiff up to your knees. So will this year suit the slightly shorter straighter hitter rather than the bombers off the tee like Dustin Johnson, Bubba and Rory, well let's wait and see.
Thanks go to all of you that supported the US Open sweepstake, the draw has been published and is on display around the clubhouse and also on Facebook. Some of you have been lucky enough to get the big boys, while others sadly some of the lesser known qualifiers.
Festival Week Results :
Well it's been a very busy week so far and the weather has improved every day since our first event on Sunday.
This saw the playing of the Pennance Cups which is a Mixed Greensomes event, with over 30 couples taking part in dry but testing windy conditions.
The overall winners were Sue Short and Ryan Job with 39 points from Chris and Rebecca Beer with 38 points.
The second event of the week was the Trefula Cup 2 Ball Better Ball event, this has been sponsored over the years by Brian Craig and thanks go to him for his continued sponsorship of this tournament.
Here is Brian on the 1st Tee with Falmouth Director, Steve Burrows.
The tournament itself was dominated by two low handicap golfers, John Gresson and Colin Ross who recorded an amazing 47 points with an 8 under par better ball score of 64, this lead to a 3 point win from 3 other pairs.
These were Nigel Molin with Arthur Clay then Ian Churcher with Peter Chambers and finally Nicky Chinn with Steve Robbins.

Tuesday was the Seniors 3 Ball Better Ball Stableford with 2 scores to count on each hole.
Another glorious day greeted our competitors with a full field of 111 players from around the County of Cornwall, play commenced at 9.00 am and the last tee off time was at 3.00 pm.
The overall winners were Chris Beer, Tony Annear and Bill Morton with 84 points, just beating Tony Schorah, John Gresson and Andy Scully on the back 6 holes.

Wednesday's event was the March Hare Ladies Open with teams of 3 and 2 Stableford scores to count on each hole, over the past few weeks the Ladies have struggled to play there events with some eventful weather that we've had in Cornwall.
So did a change of day help, it most certainly did, with the best weather of the week so far. Not a breath of wind and glorious temperatures touching the low 20's. So no blame could be made on the conditions, if you didn't play well sadly you've got to blame the golf.
The event was won by Brenda Arch, Wendy Plummer and Carol Mitcham with 78 points, here they are with the sponsor of the day, Angela Cortis, owner of the March Hare Ladies Shop in Falmouth.

The remaining events will be posted in next week's newsletter, with results to come from the 11 Hole Classic on Wednesday evening, the Florida Scramble on Thursday, the Texas Scramble on Friday and the 4 Ball Team Stableford on Saturday. Thanks go to all of you that have played so far and stayed on in the evenings for the presentations and we will see you over the next few days for the remaining tournaments.
