Captain's Charity Pro Am
After Yelverton, I had the honour of holding my Captain’s Charity Pro Am at Falmouth on Wednesday, with 21 teams competing and raising money for the Cornwall Air Ambulance and the Motor Neurone Disease Association. With the weather just clearing up before the home team lead the field away, we were in for a great day. The overall winner of the Pro’s Individual event was Paul Hendriksen from Ivybridge GC with a 4 under par 68, winning by 2 shots from Mike Watson from the Wessex Golf Centre and Richard Sadler from Hayle Golf Range on 70s.
The leading team were from Yelverton Golf Club who recorded 88 points, lead by the home assistant, Adam Frayne. The just pipped the Carlyon Bay Golf Club team by 1 point and they had their home assistant to guide them around, Grant Slater.
My thanks on the day go to Simon and his staff for the hard work they always put in to making the course look amazing, to Peter Brierley who did the starting on the day for us, then to Dave Tangye from DJR Roof Trusses for the sponsorship of the event and finally Rob and Bob from the PGA and of course my team who kept me going despite not having the best day on the course, Steve Burrows, John Bishop and Ian Churcher. |
