Hello Golfers,

Sadly by the time you get this week's newsletter, winter proper will just about be upon on us with the clocks going back by 1 hour on Saturday night. This means sadly evening golf will be finished and we have a couple of changes here at the club for the next few months, ( see Golf Course Info below ).

So from Sunday 29th, the Pro Shop will be opening during the Winter period for the following hours - 8.15am until 4.00pm, these times may change due to the course being closed due to weather conditions. We will however try to keep you all updated with as much info as possible via the Falmouth Golf Club Facebook page or Club emails.

Winter coaching packages

During the winter months it is a great time to work on your game, with just competitive friendly golf rather than qualifiers for handicap all the time. So if you need to work on certain areas of your game I am offering the following coaching packages from November to the end of February.

Course information

On Sunday when the clocks go back by one hour the first tee time that will be bookable on the tee time system will be 8.32am, with the darker mornings appearing in the next couple of weeks, this will give Richard and his staff a little more time to be able to prepare the course for play. This gives them an opportunity to set the course up if we have an early morning frost, giving them a chance to move the tees from the mats to a grass area for safety reasons and also pop the flags onto the temporary greens.

On that note of temporary greens a local rule is now in force if your stance or golf ball finishes on a temporary green when not in use, please read the Local Rule on the notice boards. We would also like to request that you PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR GOLF TROLLEYS OR WALK ACROSS THEM, the staff have taken a lot of time in first preparing them for Winter play and we would like to keep them in as good as condition as possible.

Golf buggies

Over the winter months the course sometimes becomes too wet in certain areas to allow golf buggies out on the course for safety reasons, we request that if anyone requires a buggy that they continue booking online when confirming your tee time. Although this booking does not always guarantee one for you we ask kindly that you ring the Pro Shop on the day to find out if the ground staff believe that conditions will allow them out.

Then on Sunday our Frank Wills side played at Looe against a Bude & North Cornwall team in 5 foursome matches, with Bude bringing an extremely strong side all of our pairings received a few shots, which we managed to make good use of. The team eventually won by 3 matches to 2 and now progress on to play either Whitsand Bay or Tehidy Park who were unable to play due to weather conditions at Lanhydrock.
