With the Christmas holidays getting that little bit closer, remember that we are open every day from 8.15am through to 4.00pm for all those Christmas gifts you may need to purchase for a loved one or close family friend.

Whether it's that special something like a Motocaddy Electric Trolley with a FREE golf bag or even those little stocking fillers such as golf balls, winter mitts, woolly hats or hand warmers.

The 12 Days of Christmas offers have started and hopefully you are getting your emails with our Broadcast Messages. Remember that even if you can't get here on the day please ring us in the shop to pop that particular item aside for you, because once it's gone we can't get anymore over Christmas.

Competition news

Golf Club Results

Last Saturday saw the playing of our annual Xmas Draw Scramble, with 14 teams taking part in a shotgun start at 9.30am. The conditions were testing to say the least, but that didn't bother the winning team of Steve Jones, Rob Eccleston, Roger Scorse and Maisie Drewett who clocked up a winning nett score of 56.1. They pipped Dave Drewett, Mike Watmore, Richard Harris and Theresa Brierley by .85 of a shot.

Then on Tuesday the Ladies Section held there 9 Hole Bring & Win competition, followed by afternoon of fun in the clubhouse with fancy dress, mince pies and of course Cornish Clotted Cream, followed by the bell ringing to some Xmas tunes. Winning the competition with 20 points was Carol Mitcham, closely followed by Judith Beeton and Gill Norris on 19 points.

How many do you carry?

Some people like to load the top end of their bag with a driving iron or a couple of hybrids, whereas we know others prefer to give themselves more options at the bottom end, carrying several wedges to cover different yardages and shot types. Which one are you?

As the chart above helps highlight, when you break down the number of shots you hit with various clubs during a round, it’s clear to see why your wedges are so important. Giving yourself more options in this area will ensure that you’re covered for every scenario and distance.
