January Weather Report 

Well this run of weather is very frustrating for all concerned! We seem to get a few days with a strong easterly wind which, although very cold, does help to dry the course out. But then it swings around to push the temperature back up and brings the rain sweeping back in with it. So one step forwards and two back in trying to get a full course playable once again. 

I’ve been doing some research over the past few days to see how much rainfall we’ve had so far this January, now these are recorded at Newquay Weather Station. So a little distance away, but the nearest one I could get detailed records for –

January 2010 = 79.5 mm                    January 2011 = 80.4 mm                          January 2012 = 50.0 mm 

January 2013 = 73.4 mm                    January 2014 = 139.7 mm                        January 2015 = 113.1 mm 

January 2016 = 138.9 mm                  January 2017 = 64.4 mm                          January 2018 = 97.1 mm

The reading for January 2018 is from the 1st till the 22nd and therefore we still have another 10 days of detail to be collated, and during that time we’ve had 5 days so far with no rain recorded at all. So as you can see we are heading for our third / fourth highest total rainfall for January since 2010 and the last 4 out of 5 years have been the wettest.

Lesson in 2018

Unfortunately, most of my recent lessons have had to been rearranged for when we have some decent weather. So the long term goal is to get Individual Lesson Packages, Group Coaching, Junior Coaching and Get into Golf classes up and running as soon as the weather and ground conditions improve. At the moment I have the following dates and times put aside for group coaching, so if you’re interested or have a family member or friend who would like to get into golf then have a look at the dates below and get your names down.

Each session is available for the first 8 Ladies to book, you can put your name down for an Individual Session at a cost of £ 10.00 or if you wish to book up for all 5 Sessions you will receive a 10% discount of the total cost, therefore reducing the payment down to £ 45.00.

After each lesson has been completed we will move over to the Clubhouse for a Q and A session, where Tea and Coffee will be provided within the cost.

These Get into Golf Classes are specifically designed for anyone wishing to learn this wonderful game of golf and it's available to the first 6 Pupils to book at an amazing cost of £ 25.00 for the    5 week class.

The five week course will give each pupil an understanding of the basic fundamentals of the set up procedure and starting off the golf swing. So if you have a relation who is thinking about it or even a friend you may have wanting to learn the game, then look no further.

To book your spot for all five sessions, then please pop into the Pro Shop with your Name, Telephone Number and Payment to confirm your place.

Golf Club Results 

Once again last Saturday’s Gents Winter League was beaten by the weather and although a shortened course was in operation we had some 20 guys go out for a roll up. So fingers crossed for this weekend’s Monthly Stableford.
