Devon PGA Ladies Pro-Am
On Tuesday of this week I ventured away with a team of three Falmouth ladies to support the yearly playing of the Devon PGA Ladies Pro Am at Exeter Golf & Country Club, we left Falmouth in could what only be described as miserable conditions which were with us until about 10 miles from Exeter. Then the sun came out and it turned out to be an amazing day, my team comprised of our Lady Captain, Rachael Curnow, Vice Captain, Jo Munday and Jenny Storey.
It was a fun day where the team recorded a stableford score of 73 points, sadly a few behind the overall winners at 85, although Jenny did win a prize for Nearest the Pin on the 6th Hole and I shot 73 for a four over par and a tie for 11th place, not too bad, just a tad rusty after the Winter and no wonder after all that rain we had.

How does a FREE custom fitting and FREE lesson sound?
It's so important for golfers of all abilities - particularly amateurs, who have far more to gain - to get custom fitted, as opposed to leaving it to chance, like you'd be doing if you bought standard spec clubs straight off the shelf. You really have nothing to lose. We will help you to get the most out of any new equipment through a thorough custom fitting process before you buy, followed by a lesson to see you on your way. Come and speak to us in-store if you're interested, but remember this offer is only available until Sunday, 1 July. This offer runs for Callaway and Mizuno equipment.

Greenkeepers' update
Richard has just invested in a very interesting bit of kit for the greens, it’s a Moisture Meter, this records how damp the greens are just under the surface and can help the staff to know when to water the greens, when not too and also which areas need say more water than others. |
| Richard taking a reading on the practice Putting Green |
| A reading of 34% moisture, anything under 20% & water needs to go onto the greens. |

Scratch Matchplay & Churchill Qualifier Last weekend saw the playing of the Scratch Matchplay Qualifier and the Churchill Memorial Medal, this was won by Peter Lewis with a nett score of 70 from Roger Weeks with a 72, conditions were extremely tough with a strong breeze and heavy rain during the afternoon which caused minor flooding to some of the greens. The top 16 players who recorded the lowest gross scores now go through to the knockout rounds, where Ben Browning will be hoping to win the trophy for the 5th year running. |
