Fitting news

Mizuno Fitting Event

With the new models now launched and available, we are running a FREE OF CHARGE Custom Fitting Event with my Area Sales Manager from Mizuno, Simon Smart next Thursday, the 20th from midday onwards, we still have some spaces free. So if you would like to come along and try or even have a personalized fitting then please contact myself or a member of staff in the Pro Shop on 01326 311 262.

With the brand new Mizuno JPX919 Tour, Forged and Hot Metal Irons now available in our own Mizuno DNA Fitting Cart, we can do a personalized fitting for you as well even if you cannot make the event next Thursday, so just pop on in or give us a ring.

Golf Bag Special Offer

The Ryder Cup

With Thomas Bjorn having now fully picked his team for the Ryder Cup at the end of the month, let’s see how we will cope against a very strong USA side, the bonus for the European Team is that they tend to bond together better as a team rather than the Americans. But I see another close contest coming up and as it’s trending on all the Social Media sites - #BELIEVEinBLUE

Also we will be showing all three days of the Ryder Cup live in the clubhouse on the giant screen from the first tee shot on the Friday morning to the winning putt on the Sunday afternoon.

Rules of Golf

The club have now received the brand new issue of the Rules of Golf, which is due to come into effect from the 1st January 2019, with the R&A and the USGA having carefully looked over the rules for a significant period of time, the main aim is to try and speed up play and make some of the rules a little more relaxed, but the game still to be played in the correct spirit. So please pick up a copy now from the Pro Shop or Clubhouse and start reading for the New Year, remember the book is there to help you, not hinder.

Over the next few newsletters I will be adding in one of the rules which have changed or the new ones that will come into play from the 1st January, for you to look at.

Captain's Day

Last Saturday, our Club Captain, William McLean held his Captain’s Day event in aid of Epilepsy Action. With a field of 125 golfers taking part in three different prize sections – Gents, Ladies & Juniors, the weather was great on the day and every player was treated to a bottle of water and some sustenance to keep them going while out on the course. With the different sections in play, William also had some on course entertainment in the form of Nearest the Pins on the 2nd Hole for the Ladies and Juniors, then the 7th Hole for the Gents. Prize Winners on the day are listed below with photos.

Gents Section Winner, our Club President, John Bishop collecting his first prize of a Motocaddy Lite Series Cart Bag from Club Captain, William McLean.

The Ladies Winner was Tina Stead, collecting her first prize of an Island Green Gilet & a bouquet of flowers from William.

Junior Winner was William Sercombe receiving his £ 30.00 Gift Voucher for the Pro Shop from the Club Captain.

In your sight

Having a ball

When you’re watching the pros you’ll often see them hitting shots with amazing distance off the tee, along with plenty of spin from around the green. The way they strike the ball helps achieve this, but the ball itself is a crucial component of their game.
