Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. In this week's read, we take a look at how J.B. Holmes endured the elements at the Genesis Open, consider how you can stay on top of your game throughout a day's play, and delve into some of the latest products to land in-store. Enjoy the read! |
Mizuno ST190 & ST190G The golfing season is really getting close now and with that, the new equipment is starting to arrive daily, my latest hit on hardware is the final major manufacturer I will be stocking this season, in Mizuno. So along with the Mizuno DNA Fitting Cart for irons, we will also have a full selection of shafts for the brand new wood range of ST190 & ST190G Drivers and Fairways. |

The Cobra F9 Speedback Range
These clubs have hit the course, well and truly running, with Cobra Tour Pro, Bryson DeChambeau picking up his first international win at last weeks’ Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Bryson managed a 7 shot win from Matt Wallace, who was unlucky to miss out on a Ryder Cup spot last September, but I’m sure he is one for future European teams.
Bryson clocked up an amazing 24 under, a new tournament record, with the brand new Cobra F9 Speedback Driver in the bag. This was also his fourth win in his last 9 starts, so without doubt one of the hottest players on the planet at this time.

The Callaway Epic Flash Range
Another club that is now in stock here at the Pro Shop and has already had success on tour with Xander Schuffele at the Tournament of Champions at the start of the 2019 season of the USPGA Tour. We have a selection of shafts available to try, this driver is the first one on the market to be designed by A.I.( Artificial Intelligence). A normal driver has between 5 and 7 different models designed, but the Epic Flash had 15000 variations before the one Callaway decided on. So once again we have this available for you to take out on the course or have a personalised fitting with me, so pop on in for a look at both of these new ranges.

Speed Golf We are currently looking into running a Speed Golf event. The event is played with a maximum of seven golf clubs which can be carried in your hand or in a small golf bag. Your Speed Golf score is the amount of time taken from the first shot you hit to when the last putt goes in, this is then added to your score to give you a combined total. Click here to let us know if you're interested. If you would like some information on this event, then please click here to look at the Speed Golf UK website. |

Holmes brings it home J.B. Holmes had to master the cold and windy weather whilst navigating 33-holes of golf on a treacherous Sunday to win the Genesis Open over the weekend. The tournament looked like it belonged to Ryder Cup star Justin Thomas after the American had built up a four-shot lead through 54-holes. Three bogeys in his first five holes soon wiped out Thomas’ advantage and let Holmes through to secure victory by a single shot - despite a brutal three-putt from inside four-feet at the 11th. Rory McIlroy was on form once again with a top-five finish, whilst Tiger Woods produced the shot of the day when he holed his bunker try at the 16th to rapturous applause. Holmes showed brilliant resilience to stay on top of his game and overcome the tricky conditions in California, something which we could all learn a thing or two from when the going gets tough. The mental side of the game might not be as glamorous as a textbook swing or new equipment, but is definitely just as important and shouldn't be overlooked if you want to lower your handicap in 2019. Get in touch here. |
We all love new golf equipment – be it balls, clubs or shoes; there’s nothing like stepping out onto the course knowing that everything in your bag is in pristine condition. Except, for the majority of golfers, there’s always one thing which is often forgotten about... |
| How old are your grips? |
| Losing control during your swing? |
|
If you pulled a club out of your bag now, what state would your grips be in? You’ll probably notice that they’re at the very least losing some of the tackiness they once had or, in the worst cases, worn away so badly that they’re completely unrecognizable - a clear sign they need to be replaced. The benefits to getting your clubs regripped are huge, and they can even improve your performance. Take the ALIGN grips from Golf Pride; these have a raised edge on the back (red part of grip seen here) to perfect your hand placement every time. |
|
As you can see, we're currently running a promotion where you can get your 7-iron regripped for FREE; all you need to do is pop in-store and decide which of these grips you want to try out. |
